Fence Policy

Beacon Hill Fence policy: revised and approved June 30, 2010

At a meeting held June 30, 2010 the Beacon Hill Executive Board voted that any fence which is approved must be no shorter than 5’ in height, and no taller than 6’ in height. The 6’ height is now being allowed because many owners are installing PVC type fences and PVC often comes in 6’ lengths when purchased at local supply stores. The Board also voted that any newly installed fence must have a gate which opens and closes. This is being required because the gate will serve as an egress and for safety reasons, the Board wishes to make this a mandatory requirement for any new fence installations.

The Beacon Hill Executive Board receives its authority to approve or deny all alterations of common elements, as specifically provided for in the Beacon Hill Declaration of Condominium, Page 9, Section 8.08. Therefore, every application will be viewed individually and it is the right of the Board to approve or deny the application.

The Beacon Hill Executive Board will not grant approval for any first floor fence installations that affect permanent plantings or structures.

Owners must maintain their fences or remove them. Once removed, the fence cannot be replaced without prior approval.

The permitted fencing style for wood fences is Gothic style.

Only one (1) gate is permitted if it does not affect permanent plantings or structures.

Fence specifications: Maximum permitted length total all sides is 23 feet. Maximum permitted width is 12 feet. Maximum permitted height is no shorter than 5 feet and no taller than 6 feet. Fence cannot affect permanent plantings or structures.

Fence is to be white.
